About

Everyonestarts somewhere

I’ve had the privilege of coaching more than 500 women, with different goals and different bodies, and watching them achieve results they didn’t believe they had in them.

What I learned

What actuallyworked

The opposite of what most women are told. You lift properly. You eat enough, especially protein. If you want to lose fat, I set a real deficit you can actually live on, not the punishing one you have been trying and failing at for years. No crash diets, no fads, no quick fixes. Just genuine accountability and consistency.

And then a few weeks in, you lift something you’d have called impossible, and something shifts. You stop asking what your body looks like and start asking what it can do. The fat loss, when that’s what you wanted, comes as a side effect of finally doing it in a way you can sustain.

Fitness culture nearly took me apart before it fixed anything. Getting out took years, it took help, and it was nothing like a straight line. What I came out of it with is a very specific intolerance for how much of what gets sold to women as health isn’t health at all.

That’s not the whole of me and it’s not the whole of this app. Most of the women I’ve trained have never had an eating disorder. They just wanted to lose weight, or get strong, or be able to carry their kid up the stairs without stopping. All of that is welcome here, and all of it is treated with the same respect.

It just means that when I built this, I knew exactly which shortcuts not to take.

Why the app is like this

Everything in hereis years of coaching

Every decision in ALTER YOU comes from years of coaching real women in person, and seeing what actually works and what quietly holds them back.

  1. 01

It will never promise a number by a date

Losing fat is a completely legitimate goal, and ALTER YOU is built to get you there. What it won’t do is tell you it takes four weeks. Every program says how long it really takes, before you start it.

  2. 02

The scale is never the only headline

Not because your weight doesn’t matter to you. Because if you lift while you lose fat, the number on the scale is the least informative thing in the room, and treating it as the score has broken more women than it has helped.

  3. 03

There’s a Big Mac in the food library

No food is banned. Not one. A plan you have to break isn’t a plan, and the moment an app tells a woman a food is forbidden, it has started teaching her the thing I spent years unlearning.

  4. 04

Your calories can’t be set dangerously low

The app will not let your calories go too low. Not if you ask it to, and not if you want it to. This is the single decision I’m most certain about.

  5. 05

It tells you to go heavier

Most women train for a year and lift the same weight the whole time, because nothing ever tells them to add to the bar. ALTER YOU does, the week you have earned it, and it won’t flatter you in the weeks you haven’t.

  6. 06

    It will never panic you

No streak about to die. No red badge. No notification at 9pm telling you that you have failed. You’re an adult with a life, and the app is a tool, not a supervisor.

The founder

MeetRoxy

For a long time my relationship with health and fitness wasn’t a good one.

I weighed 42kg, I suffered from an eating disorder, and I continuously destroyed my body with endless amounts of cardio, overtraining and under-eating. It made me feel insecure and unhappy every day, and I found myself in tears one day questioning whether any of it was even worth it.

Then I realised I could change, and that health and fitness could actually be something I enjoyed. Weight training is what did it. I started using food as fuel instead of punishing myself with it, and training to get strong instead of small. Somewhere along the way I fell in love with feeling strong, and I still think it’s the best feeling in the world.

It’s the happiest and healthiest I have ever felt. Looking back, I wonder how much quicker I would have got there if I’d had someone to push me and give me guidance. That’s why I started coaching, and it’s why I built ALTER YOU.

I’ve coached more than 500 women in person. I built ALTER YOU to be the app I needed when I was at my lowest.
